Digital therapies for public health systems
Clinically validated digital therapies from Germany – for public health systems
In Germany, doctors have prescribed assessed digital therapies since 2020, and statutory health insurance pays for them.
What digital therapies are
Patients use them on a smartphone or in a browser, for example for depression, type 2 diabetes or to stop smoking.
These therapies are software medical devices, specifically patient apps, expressly approved and clinically validated for their therapy. They treat each patient individually and on their own, without a person having to step in.
This makes them a complement to telemonitoring, which mainly provides data for treatment by doctors and nurses. And unlike hybrid programmes that depend on personal coaching, they can reach very large numbers of patients without additional staff.
So far, they hardly reach any other country. DUX wants to change that.
